Where to find your National Insurance number

Your National Insurance number (NINO) is needed to connect HMRC Making Tax Digital.

Common places to find it:

Format is typically two letters, six digits, then one letter (for example QQ123456C). Enter it carefully. Spaces are fine; the app normalises them.

If HMRC cannot verify the number, check it matches your personal tax account and try again.
